Philanthropy

Dog Days Philanthropy is often forgotten among fraternities, but not in Alpha Epsilon Pi. We pride ourselves on our dedication to the community and to the principles of Tzedaka and good deeds. Our chapter promotes member involvement in the local community by participating in community service and philanthropic projects to help support and benefit Evanston and the local area.

Each spring, AEPi hosts Dog Days, a four day philanthropic event supporting the American Cancer Society and Chai Lifeline. The first three days include hot dog grilling and soda sales at the Arch. The event culminates with an team-based hot dog eating contest on Saturday. This competition is always tons of fun and everyone walks away satisfied. In the last year alone, we raised over $10,000 for charity.

AEPi brothers also participate in numerous philanthropic events throughout the year. We frequently field teams to participate in other Greek philanthropy events and often donate to national charitable organizations. Additionally, AEPi encourages and facilitates brothers looking to volunteer in the community. Recently, the brotherhood has helped to restore Agudas Achim, a decrepit synagogue in Chicago. We have also volunteered at local soup kitchens and retirement homes, and have raised money for Keshet, a Chicago area charity that provides resources to children and adults with special needs.

The chapter also raises money for AEPi's national philanthropies, including Magen David Adom, the voluntary ambulance service that provides emergency response services to both Jews and Palestinians following a bombing in Israel, and the Shaarei Tzedek hospital in Jerusalem which treated the largest percentage of victims of terror during the recent uprising.
